About the Project
Revinia is a science-driven, luxury skincare brand. They sustainably harvest the bark of thorny plant, Uncaria Tomentosa or 'Cat's Claw', that grows in the Brazilian Amazon and is used to create the hero ingredient in all of their products.
When I was first introduced to the company, it was called Optigenex, and I received a sample of their serum in a recycled pill bottle so I could try it out. A comical juxtaposition to how the brand presents itself today, but a true testament to the passion and pride the founding team had in its product. They had been successfully selling their patented ingredient, ac-11®, to bigger beauty brands for years. Our mission was to transform the B2B model into a lovable D2C brand that could compete with those same brands they'd been selling to.

After developing the brand platform and understanding the what, how and why behind the brand, I lead a brand naming workshop with a small team. We hung up our top contenders from the workshop for some good old fashioned dot voting in the office.
The name Revinia was chosen. The Latin prefix “re” meaning back or again, as in returning to one’s youth. And “vinia” for its relationship to the word vine, where the key ingredient lives.
